Setting Sun 04:30
I am a setting sun I am a setting sun And I’m going down I am searching for ways I am searching for ways To stay above ground I’ve been on the fall and I’ve Seen the rise I’m hanging on like I should Lying in the background every night Are you gone for good? I shine through rain I shine through the rain And blue up the sky I feel the same way I feel the same way All the damn time I’ve been on the fall and I’ve Seen the rise I’m hanging on like I should Lying in the background every night Are you gone for good? You want me to stay You want me to stay With you for all time But you forgot to say Goodnight Goodnight

I caught your name on the display Walking the metallic park The same moon shone that day And the lights of your eyes were sparks Lighting up the boulevard And you were on You and I were meant for the weather You and I have years to get old You and I have plans for the summer Living in the Hollywood gold They say you live in the clouds Counting each beating heart Where the music is too loud And you come and go as you want But you don’t know what you want You and I were meant for the weather You and I have years to get old You and I have plans for the summer Living in the Hollywood gold You and I were meant for the weather You and I have years to get old You and I have plans for the summer They tell you you need Hollywood gold You and I You and I You and I You and I

Man I’m lonely and tired And these drinks have been liars There’s all kinds of weather in the room Telling me one thing tonight it’s You and I Step into the light She is waiting on you tonight Call her up now and you’ll be alright She is waiting on you tonight Oh my, Oh my Call her up now cause she’s waiting in line She is waiting on you tonight She is waiting on you tonight Oh my, Oh my Every night, Every time Lying on the bed your mind is running Running all night till you’re back home You were always changing your tune All the eyes were staring back at you So accumulate all your thoughts Telling you one thing tonight it’s You and I Step into the Light She is waiting on you tonight Call her up now and you’ll be alright She is waiting on you tonight Oh my, Oh my Call her up now cause she’s waiting in line She is waiting on you tonight She is waiting on you tonight Oh my, Oh my Every night, Every time Lying on the bed your mind is running Running all night till you’re back home Lying on the bed Where’d you go in my head

Broken Wing 04:39
I’m overwritten The weight is alive Comes down like an ocean And I just realized You’ve had a broken wing so long I couldn’t fix you A gift wrapped up quiet I didn’t ask you Running out of steam Trying everything Trying to take off with a broken wing They try to write you down And you come in waves Blue eyes towards the ocean There’s truth in your game You’ve had a broken wing so long I couldn’t fix you A gift wrapped up quiet I didn’t ask you Running out of steam Trying everything Trying to take off with a broken wing I wanna be with you on the night The stars fall out and empty out the sky We laugh cause it brightens up the eyes we’re looking into We’re looking into

I'm Out 02:23
Here we are At a bar Are you having fun? When you sit back relax and stare at the screen Watching all the colors on the TV Man I knew I shouldn’t have run my mouth Now I’m tired and I’m out Here I go I’m feeling low Glasses break in my mind Morale is tanking in time to stare at the screen Watching all the colors on the TV Man I knew I shouldn’t have run my mouth Now I’m tired and I’m out And I’m losing out Or I’m falling apart But when you were around Lights combine with sound Lights combine with sound Lights combine with sound Your sisters gone Your sisters gone Your sisters gone Now I’m gone to go to sleep
6.
I said hello to your friends They seemed very nice You held my hand Cut through me like a knife And I was cut by a knife Afterwards I went To my place alright And I went to bed Turned off all the lights Turned off the lights Scattered my thoughts Across the pillow If I could hold on tight I won’t let go Hold on tight Hold me like a knife I don’t care what they think we’re supposed to do I’ll hold on if you want me to If you want me to Share my ride To the party tonight We could still hold hands Just hold me like a knife Hold me like a knife Hold me like a knife I don’t care what they think we’re supposed to do I’ll hold on if you want me to If you want me to I don’t care what the want us to do I’ll hold on if you want me to If you want me to
7.
There’s a chance that we both break But I’m betting on you I’m betting on you To shine your light Standing here the wind will blow And the leaves will shake Oh man and the sun on your face Shining its own light Oh but I can’t ask for more From you standing in the door Throw it down your wishing well Are you ok? I can’t tell This is the first and the last I think about you I think about you Oh but I can’t ask for more From you standing in the door Throw it down your wishing well Are you ok? Are you ok? I can’t tell No I can’t tell I can’t tell No I can’t tell

Loose Ends 03:52
It’s been awhile Since I was walking there And since the fire stopped The streets all emptied out And now I’m not myself Again I want you to remain in the light And all the loose ends Stay untied The street remains The same with traffic lights And different pages there On different time It’s on my side so rearrange it Again I want you to remain in the light And all the loose ends Stay untied I want you to remain in the light And all your loose ends Stay untied Stay untied
9.
You had red eyes Were they blue? I don’t remember It was too late to be there And I was suffering and bored And the sound inside Succumbed to the lights all around And I wish I wasn’t awkward Then maybe I would stick around Unless you’re leaving Then I will follow you out You were dancing In the middle of Jackie and Paula It was Friday or Monday It was the night before I lost my mind And the sound inside Succumbed to the lights all around And I wish I wasn’t awkward Then maybe I would stick around Unless you’re leaving Then I will follow you out Then I will follow you down town
10.
Wanna pack your things and go outta town Something new to hold you down Your whole life is coming with you but you won’t Be hanging in the crosswinds Up there in the crosswinds All your life All your life Listen close to what the noise will bring Hold it fast and you will see Your whole life is right behind but you won’t Be hanging in the crosswinds Up there in the crosswinds Lights glowing Leaves are blowing All you wanted All you wanted All you wanted All you wanted, babe It’s what you wanted to be, babe Oh look what you became It’s all you wanted to be, babe All your life All your life All your life
11.
Days Go By 04:19
I’m thinking that we’ll be ok Close your eyes and we can go away Be together every single day The birds will sing Show the way Fire’s burning and your hands are tied If you found it then hold on to the light Carbon footprint when you go outside It’s there on your dime Days go by I was looking the bluest skies And I’m looking for the bluest eyes Drive your car down 65 Alabama is a shorter ride It’s there, through the pines I’m tired of a fading love Give me something I’ve been dreaming of Relativity is all mixed up Calm your mind Be the one Days go by I was looking the bluest skies You might be fading Into the night You might be fading You might be fading Into the night Days go by Days go by

about

“Hollywood Gold” is the debut full-length record from The Prescriptions, an Alabama-born and Nashville-based indie pop/rock quartet that made their initial splash at SXSW 2019. What followed is a summer of tour dates with John Paul White, radio spins across the AAA spectrum, and a slot on Jason Isbell’s Shoals Fest playing in between Mavis Staples and Sheryl Crow. Not bad.

If guitars and melodies are what you’re after, well….we’ve got The Prescriptions. Sorry, we had to do it.
